Player Rating - Rain(bow) City Softball

Rain(bow) City Softball is affiliated with ASANA (Amateur Sports Alliance of North America) and we are required that every player have a rating. This ensures fair and equitable levels of competition within our own league and at tournaments.

The ratings committee will review player submissions and you may receive an updated rating during the season via your team coach/manager or the league ratings committee.

Rating Levels

Reference: The 16 questions are asked as if you are playing a C-level player.

[70-90]	59-71	B Level	Former Elite competitive player in HS or College who still has exceptional speed and strength
[51-69]	44-58	C Level	Highly skilled player who has above average ratings in 5 or more categories
[31-50]	32-43	D Level	The majority of league falls into this category. Solid player who feels comfortable in their position
[0-30]	16-31	E Level	Players who are new to the game or returning from an injury

Player Rating Criteria

1. Throwing Accuracy - 70 feet(Required)

Player can throw the ball accurately 70 feet.
Ball is thrown on target, in the air, requires minimal effort to be caught.
Outfield: Thrown to cut-off or infield
Infield: Thrown from second base to first base.
1 = 0-10% | 2 = 25% | 3 = 50% | 4 = 75% | 5 = 90%+

2. Throwing Speed - 70 feet(Required)

Player can throw the ball with good speed 70 feet without an arc.
Ball travels directly with speed on a line, good velocity.
Infield: Thrown from second base to first base
Outfield: Thrown to the cut-off person.
1 = 0-10% | 2 = 25% | 3 = 50% | 4 = 75% | 5 = 90%+

3. Throwing Accuracy - 100 feet(Required)

Player can throw the ball accurately 100 feet.
Ball is thrown on target, in the air, requires minimal effort to be caught.
Outfield: Thrown from the 150 ft. line on the foul line to second base.
Infield: Thrown from third base to first base.

4. Throwing Speed - 100 feet(Required)

Player can throw the ball with good speed 100 feet without an arc.
Ball thrown directly to target, throws runner out.
Infield: Thrown from third base to first base
Outfield: Thrown from the 150 ft. line on the foul line to second base.

5. Fielding Ground Balls - Direct(Required)

Player fields solid ground balls hit right at them or within an easy range.
Infield: Within 1 step in any direction.
Outfield: Within 5 steps in any direction.
1 = 0-10% | 2 = 25% | 3 = 50% | 4 = 75% | 5 = 90%+

Player fields solid ground balls on the run - shows good range.
Infield: Within 2 strides in any direction in the infield.
Outfield: Within 10 steps in any direction.

7. Catching - Direct(Required)

Player catches solid fly balls hit right at them or within an easy range.
Infield: Within 2 steps in any direction.
Outfield: Within 5 steps in any direction.

Player effectively and consistently performs at their primary position.

10. Batting - Line Drives(Required)

Player hits line drives with power. Ball is hit with speed such that infielder has little to no time to react.

Player hits solidly to the outfield in the air.
