RCS 2020 Season

Rain(bow) City Softball Members and Friends

It is with much disappointment that I announce the cancellation of the 2020 Softball Season. Since the onset of Gov Inslee’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order we have been thinking creatively about how to provide some opportunity for a modified approach to our season. We heard from many coaches and players who shared our hope of playing any variation of a season. At this time our state is beginning it’s “Safe Start” plan to reopen and while many counties are able, King County is not yet moving into Phase 2. Due to a timeline that is beyond our control and our commitment to the health, safety and well being of our members and their families, this was the only natural outcome. I know that uncertainty is running high right now and we appreciate your patience while we waited to make this final decision. Updated information on King Counties ongoing COVID response plan can be found here.

For those of you who have already paid your player fee, you have the following options.

  1. Transfer your 2020 player fee to the 2021 season; or
  2. Request a refund of up to $65 of your paid player fee.
    • $5 will be absorbed to cover any transaction and administrative fees
  3. Donate your player fee and Rain(bow) City Softball will make a lump sum donation to Ingersoll Gender Center’s COVID-19 Relief Fund.

To indicate what you’d like to do with your player fee, please complete this form no later than July 1. All player fees that are not directed to one of the above options will be donated to Rain(bow) City Softball. *Team Fee transfer or reimbursement decisions will be made in collaboration with the RCS treasurer, sponsor, and team representative. Stacy will reach out to those individuals no later than Tuesday.

During this continued time of stress and uncertainty we know that there are many folks in our RCS community that have been directly impacted by this Pandemic. We are in this together, and that means coming together as a community to help our own. Join our online community on FB to support or seek support from other members of our league.

On a slightly different note I must take this opportunity to speak about what is on so many of our hearts and minds over the last few weeks, months, and years. The very heart of our organization is based on inclusion, community and safety. My heart is heavy as our country grieves not only the ongoing impact of COVID-19 in our communities, but also the fallen lives of black and brown people at the hands of the systemic racism so ingrained in our society. Rain(bow) City Softball is committed to breaking down barriers and systems that oppress marginalized genders in sports, but we can not stop there. To establish real change, and a more inclusive and equitable world for everyone, we must stand and speak out against oppression of all kinds. RCS stands in solidarity with and fights alongside communities of color in the demand for justice and accountability.

Myself and the entire board look forward to seeing you out on the field in April 2021.

In solidarity,

Carlee Hoover – RCS Commissioner
